End2End shows commitment to industry standards by joining the Open Mobile Alliance End2End, Europe’s leading provider of turnkey managed service solutions for mobile operators, portals and handset manufacturers, today announced that it has joined the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), the mobile industry’s key standards forum.
The OMA was setup in June 2002 as a center for mobile service specification work that stimulates and contributes to the creation of interoperable services. The Open Mobile Architecture initiative and the WAP Forum formed the foundation for the OMA, which was expanded to also include the activities of the Location Interoperability Forum (LIF), SyncML initiative, Multimedia Messaging Interoperability Process (MMS-IOP), Wireless Village, Mobile Games Interoperability Forum (MGIF) and Mobile Wireless Internet Forum (MWIF).
The OMA aims to grow the market for the entire mobile industry by enabling subscribers to use interoperable mobile services across markets, operators and mobile terminals. This is achieved by defining an open standards based framework to permit applications and services to be built, deployed and managed efficiently and reliably in a multi-vendor environment. OMA currently includes over 300 company members – representing all parts of the value chain for delivering mobile data services.
“Co-operation among companies representing different sectors of the mobile data industry is vital for the continuous expansion of the mobile data market. Building common standards is crucial in accelerating growth and stimulating an environment in which both small and large companies can continue to build their business,” says Atte Miettinen, Chief Marketing Officer of End2End. “We are committed to expanding our offering with new industry-leading solutions, developed according to the standards set by the OMA.”
