End2End completes € 20 million equity financing from Draper Fisher Jurvetson ePlanet Ventures, DB Capital Venture Partners and Hewlett-Packard
End2End, the leading Mobile Application Infrastructure Provider (MAIP) in Europe founded in 2000, announced today that it has secured approximately € 20 million financing from existing and new investors.
In previous rounds, End2End has raised € 38.7 million in equity, which has been used to design and built a carrier grade mobile applications infrastructure. The additional financing, consisting of debt to equity conversion and new equity, will enable End2End to further increase its managed service offering with new technologies such as Java, MMS and streaming media as well as accelerate the efforts to build relationships with the leading mobile operators and portals across Europe.
Simultaneously, End2End announces the appointment of Tage Rasmussen as Chief Executive Officer. Tage Rasmussen has previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of End2End and as Deputy-CEO of Sonofon. “Mobile operators are realizing that they can significantly reduce the complexity involved in introducing and delivering mobile data services by partnering with Mobile Application Infrastructure Providers” said Rasmussen. “We are excited about the future prospects and look forward to supporting our mobile operator customers such as Orange to build increasing revenue streams from mobile data.”
The business model of End2End, its track record the last two years and the massive growth potential related to mobile data applications have been determining factors in relation to Draper Fisher Jurvetson ePlanet Ventures’ investment. “Mobile Application Infrastructure Providers represent the future of mobile data services and will be required to manage and ensure the quality of data service delivery as mobile operators continue to focus on their core assets – the access network and ability to bill end-users,” said Mareza Larizadeh, Vice President of Draper Fisher Jurvetson ePlanet Ventures. “We believe that in the future, mobile operators and portals will rely on a handful of trusted partners for their application and content needs.”
DB Capital Venture Partners, which is the founding equity partner of End2End, remains fully supportive of End2End, and participates in this round of funding. “During a challenging time in the telecoms market, End2End offers mobile operators and portals a very attractive value proposition for ramping up their mobile data service offering and getting access to new technologies such as downloadable Java, multimedia messaging and streaming media,” states Roy Merritt, Managing Partner of DB Capital Venture Partners and End2End board member. “End2End has positioned itself as a strong partner for helping mobile operators and portals migrate their subscribers from 2G services to 2.5G and 3G.”
Hewlett Packard, another current shareholder, has designed and built End2End’s infrastructure, and considers End2End as one of the cornerstones in Hewlett Packard’s mobile strategy. “This relationship will further strengthen Hewlett-Packard’s value proposition as a solution provider on the telecoms market. Service Providers such as End2End play a significant role in HP’s mobile e-services strategy and allow us to effectively leverage our assets such as the Mobile E-Services Bazaar,” said Sebastiano Tevarotto, Vice President and General Manager for HP’s Network and Services Provider Business. “We intend to leverage our existing customer relationships within the mobile operator community to accelerate End2End’s presence in the market.”
As part of strengthening the relationship with Hewlett-Packard, End2End has recently joined the HP Service Provider Program, which has already resulted in significant joint marketing and sales efforts to provide mobile operators and portals across Europe with high quality managed service solutions.
About End2End
End2End is a Mobile Application Infrastructure Provider (MAIP) operating a carrier-grade network of data centres from which it delivers managed data services, technology hosting and outsourcing services to operators, portals and other companies.
End2End’s outsourced mobile application infrastructure enables operators to reduce time to market without sacrificing the reliability of a carrier-grade platform. End2End can accelerate operator revenues and profitability while avoiding the need for its customers to invest independently in the infrastructure and development resources normally required for the launch of data applications. End2End’s independent position between mobile network operators and the content/application providers makes it an ideal partner in the delivery of 2G, 2.5G, and 3G mobile data services.
