New Alliance sees One 2 One, End2End and Hewlett-Packard UK in key initiative for the future of wireless data services
The UK mobile communications network One 2 One, has entered an agreement to join the Wireless Application Infrastructure Provider (w-AIP), End2End, and Hewlett-Packard UK in an alliance to bring innovative wireless data services and solutions to the UK operators mobile phone customers.
End2End will deliver a true turnkey, carrier-grade solution for hosting, managing and supporting wireless e-services for One 2 One. The partnership will see One 2 One supply its customers with a range of services, all hosted by End2End. HP is a key partner and has supplied a wide range of products, services and strategic consultation in supporting the deal.
The first round of activity will concentrate on the provision of wireless services to the small and medium business sector, as well as the small office / home office user. Some of the types of services that One 2 One customers can expect to be offered in the future may include applications for vertical business sectors and hosted applications for the small business market.
Consumer services such as games and personalised entertainment delivered to mobile handsets via SMS and the emerging wide variety of wireless devices and PDAs can also be expected.
Generating income from the provision of wireless data services will become an increasingly important part of the UK telecommunications operators' business model when the 3rd generation of mobile communication technology comes online.
